Singer and music director Adnan Sami is a disturbed man these days. Sami recently lost 30 new musical compositions stored on his new Apple Macintosh computer — songs he had been composing for the last three months.
Millions lost?
Adnan, who was in a music recording, was unavailable for comment. But a source close to the composer confirmed, “Adnan might not want to talk about the matter as he is deeply upset. It happened a month ago and despite lodging complaints with Apple, they haven’t replaced the drive.
Adnan doesn’t know what he will do… losing 30 songs is a huge catastrophe. Even if one song from the lot had been a hit, he would have made millions of rupees.”
How the composer lose the songs? Said the source, “Adnan lost 30 songs because the Apple hard drive crashed and hadn’t been replaced even after a month. Adnan is very harrowed about this.
He bought the new Macintosh computer from Apple (it costs more than Rs 1 lakh) with specialised equipment for creating and storing music. It’s a software programme called Logic. Adnan had been recording songs for many months and the computer’s motherboard was changed twice.”
Trouble continues
That was not the end of the singer’s troubles. Soon after, the hard drive crashed and the back-up files also got corrupted.
“The computer company told him they would replace the hard drive but it’s been a month and they sent someone three times, but the new one came only yesterday — unfortunately, the drive turned out to be damaged.
Now Adnan is planning to write to the Apple head office, to complain,” added the source.
Sami’s new album affected
What else has Adnan been up to these days? “He has been very caught up composing these songs. That’s all he was concentrating on for the last three months, so he is shattered over their loss.
His Meter Down song in Taxi No 9211 was a big hit. Adnan was looking forward to releasing his next album, which would have included these songs. He now has to recompose so many songs, he can’t recollect them at all.”
