Ambit 200 Flashing Checklist
As the title says.

noobs checklist for ambit 200 by Gingerbeard

disable firewalls
rename the .bin file to 135.bin and use that filename in hperterminal
solarwinds is set to recieve by default.set to transmit/recieve in options
network has to be set to 192.168.100.10/255.255.255.0

file not found=
the .bin file is not in C/tftp root folder in drive C
or you have named the file incorrect in hyperterminal

tcp connection fail in ambit tool=
check you have not set the embedded telnet server to disabled befor using ambit tool
if this is the case press 'change' so it says enabled
and if there is a pass/login remember to use same pass/login in ambit tool(or delete pass/login)
set network to 192.168.100.10/255.255.255.0 if needed be
also you can set the ambit tool to serial instead of network and use max lead

you not set it up right
you do not know your tftp ip (SEE TFTP IP DATABASE FOR YOUR AREA)
MAC is not valid (get another from outside you ubr)

TELEWEST users may have mess about with the tool set to manual area
select ANNEX A/B - TUNER 14 - 331000000/330750000/339000000

TELEWEST use the following in hyperterminal/ambit tool cm console if ambit tool dont set it for you

Troubleshoting problems on the infinite connection status page if u r in Telewest area's

DS and US frequency not locked

possible cause no feed connected to the modem, the feed is not live or has a fault (possible splitter, f-connector,damage coax wire ) or wrong provider area freq. has been selected

WAITING FOR TFTP

the tftp ip address enter is wrong or wrong config file for ur area provider

WAITING FOR DHCP OFFER

this usually means the mac u r using is no good

Upstream Parameters Acquired

if stays this way that means no upstream signal or the upstreams power level is very low, check the feed and f-connector for faults (upstream power level need to be @ lease 40dBmV to work properly)

Boot state: progress unknown or connectivity state not syncronized

its either DS freq. (ur area freq.) is incorrect these are the frequencies for all area's
Tw: 331000000 and 339000000 in some areas
Ntl pure: 402750000 and 331000000 in some areas
Ex c&w: 586750000
if telneting ur settings via hyperterminal or using 250 configurator entering wrong annex mode or tuner
annex_mode_a or 1 for ex c&w
annex_mode_b or 3 tw & pure ntl
tuner always 19
no signal( check ur feed and f-connectors, splitter for any faults) can also be the cause of progress unknown and not syncronized

If u r in NTL area it would be the same as above except if the mac is no good everything on the connection status page will still say operational but the Configuration file will either say noserv or unreg and in some cases will not say anything @ all and give u a config filename but u wont able to gain access to the web

how to change serial number on the infinite firmware

Run hyperterminal to telnet to the modem and login
login: admin
password: infinite
then copy and paste this to stop the scan

then press enter then copy and paste this

cd non-vol
cd snmp_cm
docsDevSerialNumber xxxxxxxxxxxx (replace the x with the mac digits ur using on the modem )

then press enter and reboot the modem

how to change the username/password on internet explorer for logining to the infinite firmware status page and the telnet login username /password

run hyperterminal as usual and login
username: admin
password: infinite
then use the stop scan commad like below

then Type in:this command

http_admin newusername newpassword (replace the new username newpassword with ur own password )

then type this command

then reboot the modem and ur user name and password should be change

please feel free to add any info to this thread any problem u may have encounter with the Infinite Firmware and possible solutions to solved it and also anything info i've left out let me know so i can add it on
